This August 24th and 25th, the Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario is holding its tenth annual Trainfest! At this festival we celebrate the rich history of the railway, of not only Smiths Falls but across the country. Vendors, exhibitors, and special guests will showcase models, wares and train memoribilia while the museum will showcase guided tours, and will even be offering train rides! So come on down to the Railway Museum with your friends and family for a truly unique experience.
This year will have a theme as well; the 1940's! With this comes, staff in period clothing and reenactors from the Swords and Plowshares Group.
Hours
The train runs from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm each day. The train departs every half hour starting at 10:00 am. The museum is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
How long is the ride?
We are thrilled to be offering longer rides! The rides are now approx. 2 km round trip. They leave from the station along the West track and head north to Cornelia St., switch to the East track and travel along the east side of the property and then back again.
Train Ride Ticket Prices:
$5 (+ admin fees of $0.89) for online ticket purchases
FREE for ages 3 and under.
Special TrainFest admission prices apply:
Adults $10...Seniors/Students $8...Children $5
2 and under (FREE)

Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite and at the Museum from 10 am- 5pm.
Do I have to pre-purchase tickets?
Yes, if you want to be guaranteed a train ride. There are a limited number of tickets available for this event. If you are unable to purchase your tickets online, please call the museum to purchase tickets (613) 283-5696.
I have a child 3 or under, where I can purchase tickets for them?
Children 3 years old and under do not need a ticket, but please be sure to reserve a ticket for them when purchasing your ticket. Tickets are required for anyone 4 years or older.
What if I miss my scheduled train ride?
We request that you check-in at the front desk at least half an hour before your scheduled ride to pick up your train tickets. If you miss your scheduled ride time, we will do our best to put you on the next available train ride, but we cannot guarantee you a ride.
